About Ethiopian Airlines

Headquartered at Bole International Airport in Addis Ababa, Ethiopian Airlines is the flag carrier of Ethiopia, owned by the Ethiopian Government. The carrier provides the most African destinations to its travelers and is one of the largest African airline businesses. What more! It has been given the title of 'Best Airline in Africa' by Skytrax for 3 years back to back since 2017 and has been providing services to its travelers for over 70 years since 1946. Presently, the airline is implementing a 15-year strategic plan called Vision 2025 that will see it become the leading aviation group in Africa with seven business centers: Ethiopian Express & Ancillary Services; Ethiopian International Services; Ethiopian Cargo Services; Ethiopian MRO Services; Ethiopian Aviation Academy; ET In-flight Catering; and Ethiopian Ground Services.

Pregnant When Flying:

Ethiopian Airlines allows pregnant women up to 28 weeks of pregnancy to fly without medical clearance, but they must present a pregnancy certificate during check-in. Following 28 weeks of pregnancy, a medical clearance (pregnancy certificate) is required. For domestic and short-haul flights that are no longer more than 2 hours, a pregnant woman can travel until 36 weeks. For international flights of more than 2 hours, a pregnant woman can travel until 34 weeks. Pregnancies requiring medical clearance from Ethiopian Airlines are only required in exceptional or complicated cases.

Ethiopian Airlines Infant Policy (under 2 years or Children):

An infant sitting on a lap can fly by purchasing a ticket fare which is 10% of the adult fare plus taxes and surcharges, and if you bring another one, you must purchase a seat for him/her and a child car seat, approved and authorised by Ethiopian Airlines and international aviation policies. An adult passenger is allowed 2 infants aged under 2 years to bring with them onboard. Baby aged less than 8 days are not permitted to fly onboard, the only exception is you provide a letter of approval from a physician stating that the newborn bay is fit to fly. Ethiopian Airlines child policy allows infants aged between 8 days and 2 years and children aged between 2 to 12 years to travel with their parents or guardians on Ethiopian Airlines flights.

Ethiopian Airlines Child Fare:

The child fare is calculated on a certain percentage of the adult fare. Your child must purchase a ticket if he/she is 2 years or older or turned 2 years or older during the flight. For international flights, infants must purchase a ticket, which is 10% of the adult fare plus taxes and surcharges. For children, whether they are travelling domestically or internationally, Qatar airways offer special fare types.

Ethiopian Airlines Child Seating Policy:

If you bring a single infant, he/she can sit on your lap, but if there is another one, you need to purchase an additional seat along with a child bassinet according to the FAA-approved child restraint system. Passengers can request onboard bassinets free of cost through Ethiopian Airlines reservations. At selected international airports, bassinets are available free of cost.

Ethiopian Airlines Child Meal:

For child and infant meals, the Ethiopian Airlines child policy offers nutritious and chewable food without containing species. The meal items include chopped and mashed foods.

Ethiopian Airlines Unaccompanied Minor Policy:

Ethiopian Airlines does not accept unaccompanied minors under five (5) years without an accompanying adult.
