If you are not carrying a medical note signed by your doctor stating that you are not fit to fly, the airline reserves the right to cancel your flight. Pregnant women in their last 4-week pregnancy stage need to submit a physician's note and MEDIF form to fly out with Japan airlines. But if you are expecting the baby within 7 days of the flight, then you must be escorted by a physician along with a medical note which needs to be submitted within 7 days of the departure.

An infant sitting on a lap can fly without charges. However, if you bring another one, you must purchase a seat for him/her and a child car seat, approved and authorised by Japan Airlines and international aviation policies. An adult passenger is allowed 2 infants aged under 2 years to bring with them onboard. On international flights, whether the infant is sitting on a lap or not, they are charged 75% of the adult fare.

Japan Airlines Child Seating Policy:

If you bring a single infant, he/she can sit on your lap, but if there is another one, you need to purchase an additional seat along with a child bassinet according to the FAA-approved child restraint system. Passengers can request onboard bassinets free of cost through Japan Airlines reservations. At selected international airports, bassinets are available free of cost.
